Position Overview:
Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, UNC Health Rex includes a 439-bed hospital, a 50-bed hospital, two skilled Nursing Facilities, a Cancer Center, two ambulatory Surgery Centers, and outpatient specialty clinics.
Summary:
We seek a dynamic Director of Infection Prevention professional with excellent clinical expertise, a strong improvement background, and the creativity to drive innovation in infection prevention practices. In this essential role, you will collaborate with executive leadership, medical staff, nursing, and ancillary teams to implement strategies for minimizing hospital-acquired infections. As a Director of Infection Prevention, you will ensure that our practices meet all regulatory compliance standards regarding infection prevention, surveillance, and reporting while providing guidance and support to the Infection Prevention department. By collaborating with diverse teams, you’ll lead initiatives that significantly enhance patient safety and drive outstanding healthcare outcomes.

Education Requirements:
● Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Requires seven (7) years of experience in infection control with knowledge of or experience in epidemiological principles, infectious diseases, sterilization, disinfection practices, principles of adult education and patient care practices.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribe style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of trustees.
● Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
● Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
